About Us
Providing Paw-sitive Experiences at Every Visit
We live and breathe animals; they're the heart beat and original story of how we came to be. Because of that, Lend a Paw offers daily dog walks and vacation drop-in visits. We make scheduling easy and ensure that you get transparent updates from us every time we visit.
Unlike the independent contractors on Uber-like dog walking apps, pet care isn’t a hobby or side hustle for us; it’s our full-time job. All of our employees are background checked, drug tested, and complete approximately 14 hours of online training before our 3 week in-person training with our managers.

Our Story
Founded in 2018, Lend A Paw LLC is the #1 in-home pet care company in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are a locally owned and operated premium dog walking and pet sitting company that is bonded and insured through Business Insurers of the Carolina's, and pet CPR & first aid certified through the American Red Cross.
Lend a Paw was founded after the owner, Lauren, adopted Hayes. The pup was a heartworm positive, male, and Staffordshire terrier. The odds stacked against him. Since then, he has fueled Lauren’s love for the breed and he is the reason for Lend a Paw.
We are Louisiana’s first and only Fear Free Certified pet sitting company. We specialize in pets with anxiety and fear-based issues, but all pets are welcome! We are a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) and Pet Sitters International (PSI), and have been featured in 225 Magazine and InRegister.

Founder & Owner
Welcome to Lend A Paw! I'm Lauren Swartley, the proud owner and operator of Baton Rouge’s premier pet sitting and dog walking service. Born and raised right here in this vibrant city, I understand the unique needs of our community and the importance of reliable, loving care for your furry family members.
I bring a lifetime of passion for animals and a deep commitment to their well-being. I am especially proud to be the first Fear Free Certified pet sitter in Baton Rouge. This certification means I have specialized training to reduce stress and anxiety in pets, ensuring that your beloved companions feel safe and comfortable while you’re away.
My mission is to provide the most personable and premium pet care in the area. I believe in creating a bond with each pet I care for, giving them the affection and exercise they need to stay happy and healthy.
Caring for animals isn’t just my job; it’s my passion and my calling. I was born into a home with 4 dogs, and nothing much has changed.
Thank you for considering Lend A Paw, and we look forward to having you become a member of the LAP family!

Hello friends! I was born and raised in Baton Rouge and have always had a deep love for animals of all kinds! I grew up with German Shepherds and now have two of my own, King & Iris, who keep me busy! Before joining Lend A Paw, I was earning my Marketing degree at Southeastern. With any additional free time I had, I was helping out friends and family with their pets! It truly brings me so much joy being able to provide piece of mind for my clients. Our fur babies are very important members of our families, so i understand the worry in finding a caring and attentive pet sitter.
I am so glad to be able to continue pursuing my passions with Lend A Paw. I have learned so much in the almost 3 years I have worked for LAP! From being Fear Free certified, to meeting hundreds of furry friends, my experience has grown since I've done this dream job full time. The unconditional love they show always makes my day brighter! I can’t wait to meet your fur babies and ensure that they receive the best care possible! Talk to you soon!

I love that I get to highlight a client's pet and their experiences with us so owners can feel relieved that their pet is taken care of. I have worked several jobs where I have to actively communicate with others with a smile and I knew this was the job for me! I've loved animals since a young age and have always wanted to be a Veterinarian when I am older, specifically specifying in aquatics. I currently have one Domestic Shorthair Tabby named Thor and a great dane mix named Hinata! I have been a Vet Tech for 5 years and have worked with a variety of animals such as large, small, exotics and wildlife! Lend-a-Paw is a company you can count on and trust that your pet is well loved while you are away.

I was born and raised in Baton Rouge and now live right outside of it in Denham Springs. I graduated from LSU in 2018 with a degree in sports administration. I have had a passion for animals from a young age and that passion has only grown the older I get.
When I’m not caring for your pets, I am either spending time with my family, church, or enjoying the outdoors. I have cared for animals of all shapes and sizes from dogs, cats, guinea pigs, goats, cows, and horses! I’ve been loving on animals as long as I can remember and look forward to loving on yours!

I wasn't born or raised in Baton Rouge but it's where I call home! I have two rescue puppers of my own, Bean (golden/aussie) and Hava (vizsla/pit). When I am not training pups, walking pups or watching pups I am reading books and drinking tea. I've spent the last few years in the dog training world and can't wait for the future and all the new dogs and cats I get to meet and take care of every week!

I currently attend LSU under an animal science major with plans to attend vet school afterwards. I’ve grown up around all varieties of animals and I’ve always been passionate about taking care of any hurt animal that I see, which led me to pursuing the vet degree. I also have a second job at a pet boarding/ dog daycare facility that is also connected to a vet office and I have been working there since November 2022. I love my pet boarding job and I absolutely LOVE working with animals. I adore all of the babies I get to take care of at the pet boarding job and I can’t wait to take care of all of your babies also!!

I am a sophomore Political Communications student at LSU. I originally decided to come to LSU and Baton Rouge because the Pre-vet program is incredible, but soon realized science and math is not necessarily my strong suit in school. I have grown up with a love and passion for all kinds of animals, and their care. My family and friends would characterize me as energetic and loving, especially when it comes to interacting with pets. I have been pet sitting for friends and family for over five years now. I have a very anxious dog, Luna, at home so I know how stressful it can be to find a sitter who your pets are comfortable around. I cannot wait to meet and establish relationships with yall’s beautiful fur babies!

I have been doing pet care work for a couple of years now and am also currently working as a pet bather for PetSuites: Stay and Play boarding facility. Although I do not have any pets of my own, I have always found myself very comfortable with animals and they have usually shown me the very same affection. I have lived in Baton Rouge my whole life and have only recently started doing pet care work but I have found much satisfaction in it. I am always committed to creating a comfortable environment for the animals I care for and have found that patience is a virtue in this field of work. Along with being committed to the animals, I am dedicated to working with pet parents and making sure that your Lend A Paw experience progresses as smoothly and efficiently as I can make it. I hope you will trust me to provide excellent pet care service for your critters!

I am a recent LSU graduate! I majored in Animal Science and minored in Business. I have worked in a Veterinary Emergency Hospital in the past and have gained knowledge in medicine administration and tell signs that an animal is ill. I had two dogs growing up, a Border Collie mix and an English Golden Retriever. As much as I love dogs, I also love cats! I currently have a Siamese mix who just turned 18!

I have always had a natural affinity with animals of all kind! I look forward to long walks with your pup, getting our steps in together, while we get to know each other and develop a relationship.
My background is in design, digital media/ communications, and I also have a yoga teaching certification. With an analytically whimsical mind, it is the loving nature of animals that has always kept me grounded in life (despite my best downward dog).

I have been an animal lover my entire life, as a kid people would tell me I was going to be a veterinarian. Although that’s not the path I took, I have worked with animals in some capacity my entire working life. I have experience as a veterinary technician and am pet CPR certified. I have cared for many kinds of animals including cats, dogs, birds, fish, reptiles, and so much more. I have a few pets of my own, Big Cat, Frank, Theo, and my dog Stella. I am so excited to be part of this company and to provide lots of loving care for your four legged family members.

I am the proudest pet parent to my Labrador, Ollie, and my hedgehog, Mr. Butters. I’ve always been surrounded by animals of all kinds growing up and have learned that they bring me great joy, peace, comfort and happiness. On my spare time I love doing all things active like going on evening walks with Ollie, working out and finding new hiking spots to explore. I’ve recently decided to take a leap of faith and go after my dream job as a Marine Biologist, so I’ll be starting Southeastern University. Other than that, you can find me nerding out on numerous romance novels or in the kitchen attempting a new healthy recipe I ran across. At the end of the day though, nothing is better than the beautiful simple things in life, family and friends and coming home to my sweet four legged kids!

I am a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University with a BA in Business Management concentrating in Human Resources. I am currently the very proud mom to my Yorkie, Mercie Jo. I am a firm believer that every day of a pet’s life should be the best day and I am so excited to be part of a company that supports this belief! I cannot wait to get to know your pets and provide them with the safe, loving care they deserve!

Hi, my name Aquiles, pronounced ACHILLES, like your tendon! I hail from New Orleans, but Baton Rouge has happily been home for almost 20 years. I’ve enjoyed the last decade and a half dedicated to working in film and television. I’ve been given the opportunity to put my passions elsewhere and join the Lend A Paw team! I know the importance of companionship and the bonds that we create with the animals we come to love. My wife and I are currently proud parents of 5 cats: Mrs. Mia Wallace, Jackson Peterson, Ziggy Marley, and our youngest additions Frankie and Wolfie, a.k.a The Berzatto Brothers. What can I say! I’ve always loved animals and I can’t wait to meet you and your most precious pets!

I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin where we raised cows, chickens, horses, donkey, rabbits, goats, and peacocks. We also had around 20-30 barn cats and 3 dogs. Eventually we moved into a house and kept to dogs and cats mainly, with the occasional bird or fish.
Over the summers, for nearly 12 years, I used to work with a traveling jousting crew as a horse caretaker. I would ensure they were washed after every show as well as walked and cooled off. Picking the stalls and hooves to ensure they had sanitary spaces to stay as well as confirming no infections or wounds in hard to spot places. I also made sure they were brushed and cleaned before being saddled up and ensuring the equipment was set properly to not hurt the animal, but still provide safety.
I can’t remember, or imagine, a day without animals in my life. I’ve had several types of dogs, including pit-bulls as well as traditionally trained German shepherds, and I have never had any behavioral issues or anything of the sort. In high school, I used to dog and cat sit locally for the church I went to and loved it. Many times I was left for overnight visits as well as for just check-in’s during the weekends. I was asked to walk dogs and take them to smaller dog parks and other personalized requests for their animals.
I’m very excited to work with Lend A Paw and help the community of pet owners feel like they have reliable people who love to come and take care of their babies!

After moving to Baton Rouge and being on my own for the first time, my room felt empty and way too quiet! I ended up adopting this little black cat at a local shelter (two years later and he’s almost 20 pounds) and my life has never been better! Salem greets me at the door every-time I come home, purring, and even rolls on his back for belly rubs. A bad day ceases to exist the second I open the door. That’s why I hope to be able to provide the absolute best care I can, to ease your mind when you’re not there to be greeted by your furry friend!

Growing up I raised three German Shepherds. I learned how to train them, and we eventually became best friends. This is where my passion for animals began. After going into college, I decided to rescue two dogs who needed a good home. This is how I ended up with Radley (Australian cattle dog mix) and Charlie (yorkie mix). After adopting them, I wanted to help others with their pets’ needs. I started to pet sit for family, friends, and coworkers. Over the years I have made so many meaningful relationships with pets and their owners. I look forward to creating new friendships with you and your pets.
