About Us
Providing Paw-sitive Experiences at Every Visit
We live and breathe animals; they're the heart beat and original story of how we came to be. Because of that, Lend a Paw offers daily dog walks and vacation drop-in visits. We make scheduling easy and ensure that you get transparent updates from us every time we visit.
Unlike the independent contractors on Uber-like dog walking apps, pet care isn’t a hobby or side hustle for us; it’s our full-time job. All of our employees are background checked, drug tested, and complete approximately 14 hours of online training before our 3 week in-person training with our managers.

Our Story
Founded in 2018, Lend A Paw LLC is the #1 in-home pet care company in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are a locally owned and operated premium dog walking and pet sitting company that is bonded and insured through Business Insurers of the Carolina's, and pet CPR & first aid certified through the American Red Cross.
Lend a Paw was founded after the owner, Lauren, adopted Hayes. The pup was a heartworm positive, male, and Staffordshire terrier. The odds stacked against him. Since then, he has fueled Lauren’s love for the breed and he is the reason for Lend a Paw.
We are Louisiana’s first and only Fear Free Certified pet sitting company. We specialize in pets with anxiety and fear-based issues, but all pets are welcome! We are a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) and Pet Sitters International (PSI), and have been featured in 225 Magazine and InRegister.

Founder & Owner
Welcome to Lend A Paw! I'm Lauren Swartley, the proud owner and operator of Baton Rouge’s premier pet sitting and dog walking service. Born and raised right here in this vibrant city, I understand the unique needs of our community and the importance of reliable, loving care for your furry family members.
I bring a lifetime of passion for animals and a deep commitment to their well-being. I am especially proud to be the first Fear Free Certified pet sitter in Baton Rouge. This certification means I have specialized training to reduce stress and anxiety in pets, ensuring that your beloved companions feel safe and comfortable while you’re away.
My mission is to provide the most personable and premium pet care in the area. I believe in creating a bond with each pet I care for, giving them the affection and exercise they need to stay happy and healthy.
Caring for animals isn’t just my job; it’s my passion and my calling. I was born into a home with 4 dogs, and nothing much has changed.
Thank you for considering Lend A Paw, and we look forward to having you become a member of the LAP family!
Caroline
Senior Operations Supervisor
Hello friends! I was born and raised in Baton Rouge and have always had a deep love for animals of all kinds! I grew up with German Shepherds and now have two of my own, King & Iris, who keep me busy! Before joining Lend A Paw, I was earning my Marketing degree at Southeastern. With any additional free time I had, I was helping out friends and family with their pets! It truly brings me so much joy being able to provide piece of mind for my clients. Our fur babies are very important members of our families, so i understand the worry in finding a caring and attentive pet sitter.
I am so glad to be able to continue pursuing my passions with Lend A Paw. I have learned so much since i started with the company in 2021 and became the Senior Operations Supervisor in 2022. From being Fear Free certified, to meeting hundreds of furry friends, my experience has grown since I've done this dream job full time. The unconditional love they show always makes my day brighter! I can’t wait to meet your fur babies and ensure that they receive the best care possible! Talk to you soon!

I love that I get to highlight a client's pet and their experiences with us so owners can feel relieved that their pet is taken care of. I have worked several jobs where I have to actively communicate with others with a smile and I knew this was the job for me! I've loved animals since a young age and have always wanted to be a Veterinarian when I am older, specifically specifying in aquatics. I currently have one Domestic Shorthair Tabby named Thor and a great dane mix named Hinata! I have been a Vet Tech for 5 years and have worked with a variety of animals such as large, small, exotics and wildlife! Lend-a-Paw is a company you can count on and trust that your pet is well loved while you are away.
Katie
Team Lead
Hi there! My name is Katie, and I am one of the Team Leads here at Lend-A-Paw. When I am not taking care of fur babies, I am a professional Human Resources Consultant in healthcare and an obsessed dog mom to my sweet pup, Mercie Jo. I have always had a heart for animals, and I believe it’s something they can sense in me as I have yet to meet a pet that I cannot befriend. As a dog mom, animal lover, and homeowner myself, I understand the trepidation of pet owners to leave their fur babies and their homes. This is why I strive to provide the level reliable, professional, and compassionate care that I would expect in my home for my pet, to our clients and their sweet fur babies. I am proud to work for a company like Lend-A-Paw that upholds an exemplary standard of safe, quality care that all pets deserve. I can’t wait to make friends with your four-legged family members!
Noah
Team Lead
Hello everyone! My name is Noah and I’m one of Lend-A-Paw’s team leads. I’ve been proud to call the Baton Rouge area home my entire life. Caring for animals has always been a huge part of my life. Whether it was catching snakes and lizards in the back yard and making them my “pet” for the day, or helping my in-laws and friends with their large farm animals, I have always had a passion for providing safe and quality care for the animals I encounter.
Growing up, I was always anxious to leave my pets behind when our family went on a trip. When I learned about Lend-A-Paw and their desire to provide top notch pet care and ease the anxiety of owners in our area, I knew I needed to be a part of their team because I resonated with that vision due to my past experience. I want to ensure that your furry friends are not only well cared for, but that they experience love and companionship, even when you aren’t able to provide it.
When I’m not caring for your furry friends,I serve as a youth pastor in Denham Springs and love spending time with my wife, 2 kids, and our sweet little pound puppy June. I can't wait to meet you and your furry family.
Stephen
Team Lead
Hello everyone! My name is Stephen and I'm a pet sitter here at Lend-A-Paw! I started with the company in March 2024, but I have been in the pet care business since I was born! I was born and raised on a farm in southeastern Wisconsin where we had all kinds of animals; horses, donkeys, peacocks, rabbits, goats, cows, chickens, dogs, cats, birds, you name it, I probably had one! I spent all of my youth learning to take care of all kinds of animals, which is now second nature to me. Many years later we moved to the suburbs, but still kept dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and other pets over the years. We had traditionally trained German Shepherds that knew all the commands in German, we had Border Collies that were show trained, as well as rabbits that were show trained. I kept parakeets and trained them, and we also had gerbils and rats that gave birth and we found homes for them. Later, in high school, I was a professional pet sitter for a lot of people who went to our church.
My love and passion for animals is as old and as much a part of me as my name. I can't remember a day of my life without pets. My constant exposure to animals has given me a vast arsenal of experience to draw upon when making decisions about pet care and ensuring that safety is paramount. At the same time, I think this experience has given me a deep natural compassion for them. I have had very sick animals that I just loved dearly and did everything I could for them. I've had cats with kidney failure that needed IV's several times a day and I had to administer them myself. I had a 6 year old Pittie that I drove over 2 hours several times a week to the Madison Vet Hospital in Wisconsin where they train vets to make sure he was getting the best care possible.
These values and lifelong lessons I've learned naturally carry over into my work with pets. I understand how much these animals mean to their owners and how much of a relief it is to know that someone who understands that will be there to care for them when they can't. I want Lend-A-Paw's clients and potential clients to have full confidence in our ability to compassionately, professionally and safely care for their pets while they enjoy a much-needed vacation or just a day at work without worrying about their furry companions!
My lifetime of experience and exposure to so many different types of animals and pet care scenarios makes me one of the most experienced employees in the company. I believe that this experience has naturally cultivated and helped me to further develop a professional, honest and reliable character that reflects the values of Lend-A-Paw. Our intention and hope is to bring professional, honest and reliable pet care to your home and help you feel that all of your pets' needs are being met, even unconventional or special requests and needs!
Through Lend-A-Paw, I'm available for all types of visits; overnight, pet taxi, field day, vacation, drop-in. I'm very flexible when it comes to timing and am always willing to change plans to ensure proper care!
Samantha
Team Lead
Hello! My name is Samantha. I am the proudest pet parent to my Labrador, Ollie and my hedgehog, Mr. Butters. I’ve always been surrounded by animals of all kinds growing up and have learned that they bring me great joy, peace, comfort and happiness. On my spare time I love doing all things active like going on evening walks with Ollie, working out and finding new hiking spots to explore. I’ve recently decided to take a leap of faith and start tackling a business administration degree with a minor in finance at Southeastern University. Other than that, you can find me nerding out on numerous romance novels or in the kitchen attempting a new healthy recipe I ran across. At the end of the day though, nothing is better than the beautiful simple things in life like family, friends and coming home to my sweet four legged kids! Working for Lend A Paw has allowed me to become animal CPR certified while continuing to grow my knowledge on how to properly care for animals. This company is able to provide so many fun and helpful services like pet taxi, field days and so much more! The most exciting thing that Lend A Paw provides though is how much care, passion and hard work they put in to making sure all sitters/care givers are equipped with the right skills to give every pet the best quality care at every visit.
Spencer
Team Lead
Howdy! My name is Spencer, and I am a team lead. I have many years of experience sitting and training different types of pets. I am from Ville Platte, La and moved to Baton Rouge in 2019. Growing up, I had three German Shepards, rabbits, ducks, and chickens. My favorite part of the day was coming home to a house full of excited, happy, and spoiled pets. As of now, I have two dogs, a house rabbit, and a cat who I love spending time with. I wanted to share my passion, skills, and knowledge with others, so I joined Lend A Paw. As a pet sitter, I strive to provide the best care possible, while putting the well-being of the pets first at all times. I’m dedicated to giving personalized care by getting to know and love your pets, as if they were my own. Since joining the company, I have made so many great, life changing connections with pets and their owners. I look forward to meeting you, your pets, and providing an unforgettable experience. Thanks for letting me be a part of your family!
Denae
Team Lead
Hello to all! My name is Denae and I have been with Lend A Paw since January of 2024. It has been so great getting to know everyone’s fur babies and caring for them!
Before this job, I previously worked at a pet boarding facility for a year and a half. Through that, I’ve gained a lot of knowledge on pet caring, pet behaviors, and medical concerns. The knowledge gained from that job has been very useful in providing the ultimate care for all of your fur babies!
I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember and have grown up around all types of animals including; Dogs, cats, a bearded dragon, a rescued squirrel, hamsters, fish, and a rabbit. Animals have always brought me such joy and there is nothing I love more than spending time with them! I am always sure to give your pets the best care possible and love all of them as if they are my own!
I get so excited to visit with all of your pets, who I have grown so close to and love so much, and I can’t wait to continue to do so!

I have always loved animals and found joy being around them no matter what kind. I now have 5 feline nieces and nephews and one bunny nephew that I absolutely love to visit and spend time with. April
Sitter
Hey y’all! My name is April and I am one of the pet sitters here at Lend a Paw. I have been working with the LAP since January of 2024, and I can truly say it is the best job ever! I have multiple years of experience in pet sitting/walking, and have hands-on practice with CPR!
I have always been a huge animal lover! I am originally from Columbia, SC, but I moved here to attend LSU and study animal sciences. Although those original plans have changed, my passion for animals has not!
I grew up in a home with two dogs, Luna and Solly. They have been the best buds I could have ever asked for in life, so I understand how important it is to find responsible and reliable pet care for your babies. One of the things about LAP that stood out to me most is our focus on providing care to pets with anxiety and fear. My dog, Luna, has anxiety, and it can be difficult to find care for her while we are away from home. Because of this, I hope to provide TLC to all pets and ease the minds of pet owners!
I cannot wait to meet and love your furry babies!
Natalie
Sitter
Hi! My name is Natalie, and I am one of the pet sitters with Lend a Paw. I am a recent LSU graduate! I majored in Animal Science and I have worked in a Veterinary Emergency Hospital. I had two dogs growing up, a Border Collie mix and an English Golden Retriever. As much as I love dogs, I also love cats! I currently have a Siamese mix who just turned 18! I live in Prairieville and I love getting to meet and care for new furry friends. Whether a pet has special medical needs or likes to spend the whole visit playing fetch, I am dedicated to providing the best care for every animal!
Amanda
Sitter
Hi, I am Amanda and I am a pet sitter with Lend a Paw! I have always had a natural affinity with animals, specifically dogs and birds. I am pet CPR certified and have fostered many dogs over the years. I also have previous house sitting experience over extended time periods. I know what it means to love and care for animals. Usually I work with furry ones, but sometimes feathered ones come around, and occasionally there are scaly ones too!
I am a Louisiana native with a loving family who I am so thankful to have in my life. I am also grateful to have had the opportunity to travel and experience many cultures. However, I always seem to flock back home. My other background experience is in art and technology. It is abstract work, and so I value the times I get to care and work with animals who keep my mind grounded!
Working for Lend A Paw has educated me on many levels. It is not only compassion for animals but an in depth understanding of animal behavior and other critical factors to be aware of. I am a better caretaker today thanks to Lend A Paw.
One of my most treasured animal experiences took place at the onset of Hurricane Isaac. I wondered, “Where do animals without shelter go during storms?” Well, a hummingbird flew right into my house! It was surreal. I had the privilege to hold this fragile creature in my hands before it took flight into the night after the storm
I want my clients to feel peace of mind that their homes and fur babies are well taken care of while they can’t be there. You can always count on me to show up, odd times and holidays. I can’t wait to meet your furry family members!
Guinevere
Sitter
Hello Pet Parents! I am Guinevere, a pet sitter at Lend-A-Paw. I have always had a passion and love for all animals. I ran a boarding and day care facility for animals for several years as the General Manager. I am a former Executive Director of a Dog Rescue and I still support various animal rescues in the south. I have a certificate in Canine Behavior Training. When I am not pet sitting, dog walking or transporting your pets; you can find me with my husband and our six amazing rescue dogs. I have always used pet sitters with my own dogs as I believe that pets do better staying in their own homes and on a routine than they do in a new, unknown environment. I look forward to meeting your pets and providing them with quality care in a safe and loving environment.
Jayden
Sitter
Hi! My name is Jayden and I am a pet sitter/walker for Lend A Paw! I am currently attending LSU to get my Wildlife Biology degree. I’m a six year experienced vet technician caring for animals anywhere from small to exotic. I’m also a five year experienced waterfowl dog trainer. I grew up on a farm raising cattle, horses, chickens, you name it! So my love for animals is extremely high. I currently have 8 dogs of my own and a very large reptile collection, so my household might as well be considered a small zoo! I strive to let the clients know that they can trust me to care for their pets in their home with no doubt or hesitation. Being in the vet field, it has taught me how to build personal connections with clients and their pets so they see me more as a friend and someone they can call when help is needed. I’ve been considered very reliable, honest and trustworthy amongst my friends and colleagues. It is my goal to provide excellent customer service, and I can’t wait to meet your fur babies!
Alisha
Sitter
Hi, my name is Alisha and I’m a sitter here at Lend A Paw. Animal care has always played a big roll in my life. I spent several years as a veterinary technician and have a certification in pet CPR. My personal pets throughout my life have ranged from cats and dogs to fish, reptiles, and exotics. I currently have three cats, Big Cat, Frank, Theo, and a dog named Stella. I am so excited to put my knowledge and experience to use and help provide lots of loving care to your furry family!
Aquiles
Sitter
Hi, fellow pet owner! My name is Aquiles, and I am a proud part-time pet sitter with Lend A Paw. I have been with Lend A Paw since June 2024 and have studied and learned from the best trainers. Prior to Lend A Paw, I was with a cat sitting company. Since being with Lend A Paw, my love for animals has grown. I’ve gotten to know quite of few of your pets and enjoy their reactions when I visit them. They really make my day! I’m a New Orleans native, but a Baton Rouge local for the last 20 years! My wife and son are parents of 5 amazing cats: Mia, Jackson, Ziggy, Frankie and Wolfie! We raised Frankie and Wolfie since they were 2 weeks old, and it’s been wonderful to see them growing. And as I would want with my pets, my goal is to make sure that you feel comfortable knowing the care I provide to your beloved animals is safe, fun and always professional. Whether it’s your dog, cat, or even fish, they will be treated with the upmost care and respect that they inherently deserve. When you entrust me to your pet, please know that there is nothing more important in that moment than making sure they are the happiest they can be and that they feel special. I will do what it takes to earn your trust and keep you in our Paws!
Kelsy
Sitter
Hi, I’m Kelsy! I’m originally from Laplace but lived in Hammond for the past few years where I volunteered at local shelters. In my free time, I love painting and playing video games. After moving to Baton Rouge for college and being on my own for the first time, my room felt empty and way too quiet! I ended up adopting this little black cat at a local shelter (two years later and he's almost 20 pounds) and my life has never been better. Salem greets me at the door every-time I come home, purring, and even rolls on his back for belly rubs. A bad day ceases to exist the second I open the door. That's why I hope to be able to provide the absolute best care I can, to ease your mind when you're not there to be greeted by your furry friend!
Lexi
Sitter
My name is Lexi, also known as mom to Dixie, Cashew, and Binx! My three rambunctious rescues have completely changed my life for the better. I call them my little zoo. Dixie is a Cane Corso/Rottweiler, Cashew is a chihuahua/rat terrier, and Binxy boy is a little black cat. We love variety over here haha. The big to small ratio always cracks people up when they see us on our walks. I love helping other people care for their fur babies as well. I treat them as my own. I started my pet sitting/walking journey at the ripe age of 18. Your pet is your family and i know how hard it is to be away from them, even if you're doing something fun for yourself. I want to ease that feeling and have you trust that when your baby is with me, they are safe and having the time of their life. They would get endless one on one attention and play time until you return home to them!
Tyler
Sitter
Hey y’all! I’m Tyler, one of the new sitters on the 2024 Lend A Paw team. I am certified in Cat and Dog First Aid & CPR through the American Red Cross and have completed training through FetchFind. I was born and raised right here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Growing up, I used to say my house had four girls and two boys: my two sisters, my mom, my dad, myself, and Bear, our chocolate lab. Growing up, I don’t have any memories that don’t include Bear, the other boy in the family.
I now live with my best friend Marlin, a super cute 6-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Adopting him was one of the best decisions I have made in my adult life, and I also joined the Lend A Paw team. I am so excited to welcome new pets and humans into my life and add to my growing Baton Rouge family! I can’t wait to see y’all!
Jess
Sitter
Hello, my name is Jessalyn (Jess for short) and I am a dog walker/ sitter for Lend a Paw! I am from Zachary Louisiana, where I grew up and went to high school. In college, I went to Nicholls State University, where I received a Bachelors degree in education. I taught for 3 years before I decided to pursue a career in 4 legged friends! I have volunteered at many animal shelters and am also employed by Companion Animal Alliance as a Dog Care Supervisor. Working in the shelter has given me lots of experience with dogs of all shapes, breeds, and sizes. I always wanted a dog of my own but did not get one until I was an adult living on my own. My dog (Tae) and I went through PetSmart training class together. I feel like the class taught me a lot about how to form trust with animals! It is my hope, that I can provide you with the comfort that your 4 legged friends will be taken care of with the most attention and dedication they deserve.
